TV broadcaster, Rebecca John, who took portraits of our residents last year has had her work included in an exhibition at The Gates Arts Centre.
Rebecca who lives in Pontcanna, is a presenter and reporter for BBC Wales Today and is also a keen photographer. Last year, Rebecca completed a course at the Ffotogallery, a national development agency for photography and lens-based media in Wales, at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff.
She has had four pictures from her portfolio entitled 'New Home' selected by the Cardiff Art Gallery, alongside other students' work from the past 18 months to feature at The Gate Art Centre. The chosen portraits taken include two of our Doris Sutton, one of Iwan Thomas and one of our Daniel Rosewell.
Rebecca got to know our first permanent residents when she visited our home, who later on were delighted to get involved in her photography project. Rebecca was then asked to officially open our home with BBC meterologist Derek Brockway last summer.
Rebecca said: "I'm really surprised and thrilled to have some of my photos chosen from Ty Llandaff Care Home for this exhibition. I'm so grateful to Ty Llandaff and the residents for the superb access they gave me last year."
Our Home Manager, Janice Evans, is now preparing to arrange a visit to The Gate Arts Centre for our residents with Rebecca to view the pictures for themselves, which run until the end of January.
Janice said: "Congratulations to Rebecca. We were delighted that Rebecca's marvelous photos of residents for Ty Llandaff have been chosen for this special exhibition. Rebecca is very popular with our residents and they really enjoyed working with her and playing a part in this photography project. Her success shows what a great photographer she is."
