Our residents were treated to professional portraits as part of Pontacanna resident Rebecca John's photography project, titled 'New Home'.
Rebecca says: "I came up with the idea of doing the project not only because it is a brand new care home, but also because it's the residents' new home. Many of them had lived in their own homes before moving in, so I started thinking about what a big move it must have been for some of them - leaving so much of their old lives behind."
Rebecca continued: "I was thrilled when the care home manager, Janice Evans, agreed to the project after she'd spoken to the residents. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know some of the residents and team at Tŷ Llandaff. I hope that the residents and their families enjoy the final portraits as much as I have enjoyed taking them!"
Rebecca is originally from Bridgend. She studied French and German at Cambridge University before undertaking a postgraduate course in broadcast journalism at Leeds Trinity University. She has worked in the media for many years, in radio and television news.
Rebecca is currently working on her professional photography portfolio. If you like the photos of the residents and would like to see more of her work, please visit her Instagram page.
