National Care Home Open Day 2018
Last updated: 10.53am, Monday 28th May 2018
We had a wonderful day recently celebrating National Care Home Open Day being entertained by the Barry Male Voice Choir and Irish dancers.
The idea behind Care Home Open Day, now in its sixth year, is to encourage local people to visit care homes in the community and work together to build long-lasting relationships.
The suggested theme for in 2018 for the day was 'linking communities' so we invited the public to enjoy the day and help celebrate The Queen's 92nd birthday, which took place on the same day.
We had guests including the Barry Male Voice Choir from the Vale of Glamorgan, champion Irish dancers, and music from pianist Jeff Holder.
Our Home Manager, Janice Evans said: "We are always looking at new ways of building relationships with the local community and Care Home Open Day was a fantastic way of bringing generations together."
"We were delighted to welcome all our guests, including the Barry Male Voice Choir, who have become very close friends of the home and our fabulous Irish dancers. There was a real buzz around the home about the event and the residents had a great day!"
