Dementia Care

At Tŷ Llandaff Care Home, we provide dementia nursing and care to those with low level dementia needs. Our Nurses are highly-trained to give support of this level which includes helping residents with daily tasks, activities and hobbies.

Our home is filled with dedicated staff members, including Carers and Activity Coordinators who go to great efforts to work closely with our dementia residents and their loved ones. By cultivating these strong relationships, we can identify activities and therapies that meet our residents’ specific needs and help them to lead a fulfilled life.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a long-term illness that has a variety of types and severities, and whilst it can affect people in different ways, it most commonly impacts mental functions such as speech and memory. With the right level of care and support, those living with dementia can continue their daily tasks and activities, and live their lives the way they want. At Tŷ Llandaff Care Home, we strive to not only care for our residents but to support them in maintaining their independence and continuing to do the things they love.

How We Approach Dementia Care

With every type of care we offer, our main goal is to make sure that our residents feel safe, happy and comfortable in their new home with us. Our team is fantastic at providing outstanding levels of care and are highly experienced in caring for residents with low level dementia needs and identifying what support is best for our residents. We work hard to create an activities programme that is fully inclusive and dementia friendly. All the services we provide are comprehensive and given with respect, allowing each of our residents to live a happy life with plenty of opportunities.

Dementia Care at Tŷ Llandaff Care Home

All of our employees get educated level dementia and Alzheimer’s training, which covers the fundamental knowledge and abilities needed by all professionals in health and social service sectors, with a focus on understanding, awareness, and building relationships. Our Care staff receive advanced training to ensure that they have a broad range of understanding and abilities relevant to the many stages of the dementia journey. We work hard to help each resident enjoy the everyday, allowing them to make the most out of life and we take pride in giving the greatest level of care and respect to all.  Our staff builds an accurate picture of a resident’s life with the support of family and loved ones, ensuring that both medical and wellbeing care is considered and accommodated for.

When is Dementia Care Needed?

With dementia comes a variety of daily challenges for both those living with dementia and those loved ones who care for them. As a progressive condition, dementia continues to affect people over time meaning those suffering with the condition may require more care and support. You may notice when someone is showing signs of dementia as they may appear to forget things, misplace items and even experience difficulty with daily tasks. It is at this point where you may decide that the person with dementia requires more daily support and care than you can provide and moving into a care facility may be the best option.

By Your Side No Matter The Circumstances

Following the Government guidelines, our team at Tŷ Llandaff Care Home work around-the-clock and go to great lengths to ensure that every part of our facility is safe and secure. The overall wellbeing of our residents is of utmost priority to us which is why we do all that we can to make our home feel as normal, warm and comfortable as possible for our residents and their visitors during these unprecedented times. We want all of our residents to feel like they are at home at Tŷ Llandaff, and part of a community that they can rely on for support and care every single day.

A Specially Designed Care Programme

Whilst we have set a standard of providing exceptional levels of care, we as a team work extremely hard to provide more than what is expected of us. Right from our first interaction with our residents, we work hard to develop a strong relationship with them and have regular assessments to ensure that we are providing them with a care plan that meets each and every one of their individual needs. At Tŷ Llandaff Care Home, we take our duty to provide person-centred care very seriously, and do so with the highest compassion and respect.
