Our home manager at Ty Llandaff, Kath

Recognising Our Staff For International Women’s Day

At Tŷ Llandaff Care Home, for International Women’s Day, we wanted to celebrate the wonderful women who work at our care home and help to make a difference in our residents' lives. We will be talking about three female staff who embody this year’s theme “Embrace Equity”.

The first woman is our Home Manager Kath

"I joined Tŷ Llandaff in October 2022 as I came across this job on LinkedIn and thought ‘this home looks beautiful” Needless to say, it is. I spent some time in the home before my start date getting to know our amazing residents. Our phenomenal team and the loving families of those who we have the privilege to spend every day caring for. Our senior management team, Kelly, Jayne and Manni were so very warm in their welcome and gave me the support to settle into this beautiful Home to love it as much as they do.

I have been working in health care for over 30 years since I was 17 years of age and I can honestly say I absolutely love what I do. I know some might think that’s such a cliché, but if you spent a day in Tŷ Llandaff you would understand my passion and commitment.

I deal with the overall management of the home and compliance. My day varies greatly. One day I could be attending assessments and managing admissions the next I could be in the office working behind the scenes, or on the floor supporting the team, I’m even known to do the night shift.

Being a Home Manager is the most rewarding job I have ever had the pleasure of doing, it teaches me how to be strong and kind, and I am as passionate today as I have always been about great care.”

The second woman is Head of Housekeeping Kerhys

Kerhys

"I joined Ty Llandaff in November 2022 as I came across this job through recommendation and visited the home to meet the team. My first thoughts were to the warm and inviting atmosphere, and look at all that glass I can clean, It’s a bit of a passion of mine. Our management team and heads of Departments welcomed me into the Tŷ Llandaff family and soon had me dressing as a daffodil.

I have been in Hospitality in the domestic section of the industry for many years and I am affectionately known as squeaky as it’s the greatest sound when something is squeaky clean.

I deal with the management of the housekeeping team and compliance in that role, and I am learning and developing processes in the home to ensure we continue to provide a warm, clean and happy environment for those in our care.

Being Head Housekeeper is a job I do with passion and enthusiasm, I am learning new things and am teaching new things in my role in this beautiful home".

The third woman is our Activities Coordinator Taniesha

"I joined Ty Llandaff in July 2021 as a carer, and soon fitted into the role as part of the kind team at Tŷ Llandaff. I spent 18 months in the most amazing role and always loved to share my creative side and passion for life enrichment so moved across to activities at the end of 2022. I just love making a difference every day, and bringing smiles and adding sparkle drives me to want to do more and more. Our talented residents join me daily in planned (and sometimes unplanned) activities in the home, I love to see happy smiling faces.

I have been in health care for a couple of years and I absolutely love what I do, I never tire of making a day a good day, even when we have faced challenges over recent years.

I get to plan activities with residents of the home and which we discuss through forums. My day varies greatly. One day I could be elbows deep in glitter and paint, working behind the scenes, or singing along with Elvis.

Being an activities coordinator brings me complete job satisfaction, I take great pride in what I support our residents to plan and achieve and I get to share in their laughter and it is the most rewarding job".

We can't thank our staff enough for going above and beyond in their role each and every day to ensure our residents and always happy, supported and cared for to the highest degree through passion and dedication.
