What is Respite Care?

Respite care is a form of short term care used to recharge from personal circumstances. Whether you’re a primary carer for a loved one or need additional time recovering from an illness or injury, you can be sure to feel great again after receiving respite care from a dedicated care team who will wait on you hand and foot.

Many residents use respite care as a way of experiencing a short term trial stay to see if a care home is a right fit in the long term. This type of care is suitable for all types of care needs and circumstances. Respite care can last from a few weeks to a few months and our care team will follow the respite care plan created for each resident.

Residential Care

Residential Care is available to those who need help with daily tasks such as personal care, medication management or mobility. Residents can treat our home as their own home and go about their daily lives as usual, taking advantage of the various services and amenities available on-site. Residential care is long-term care offered to older people who would benefit from group living rather than on their own, while a person receives as much or as little assistance as they require. Each day, residents can look forward to delicious home-cooked meals and group activities as well as regular excursions.

Nursing Care

Nursing care is available to residents who need complex care. Individuals with physical disabilities, long-term health conditions and those who require palliative care, are all cared for by a dedicated team of nurses. Rooms are equipped with nursing aids such as profiling beds, hoists and air mattresses for maximum comfort. We adopt a ‘key nursing’ approach to care, which means that each resident will be assigned a nurse who will look after their health and well-being needs at all hours of the day and night.

Dementia Care

Dementia is a long-term condition that can affect people in different ways, it most commonly impacts mental functions such as communication, mood and memory. With the right level of care and support, individuals living with dementia can continue to enjoy daily hobbies and activities, and live their lives the way that suits them. At Tŷ Llandaff Care Home, we strive to not only provide exceptional care but to support people in maintaining their independence where possible. Residents will have personalised care plans created strictly followed by staff and altered as and when care needs change.

We Are Here For You

Our approach to care is more than just meeting the basic needs of an individual. We endeavour to look after every resident in their entirety, making deep connections with all residents so that we can get to know them on a personal level. By learning their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses we can customise a personal care plan for the level of care that’s required.

Searching for a care home on behalf of a loved one is not always an easy process. Deciphering which type of care is needed can also be difficult to determine. We offer our support by inviting you into our nursing home to discuss the individual needs of prospective residents with their family members and develop a suitable care plan. Whether it’s residential care or a respite care service that you might need, we will advise on the right type of care in order for prospective residents and loved ones to have peace of mind and be ready to take the next step.
